As verbs the difference between hurl and puke
is that hurl is to throw (something) with force while puke is (transitive|and|intransitive) to vomit; to throw up; to eject from the stomach.
A doctor would use the word "vomit" or if they were being more casual "throw up". "Puke" is more informal and has more of a disgusting tone than the others, even though it means the same thing.
If someone barfs, they vomit. [informal]
:) got it !!

Just to add to the comment above: “hurl” can also mean “vomit/puke/throw up”. It’s also used informally, but doesn’t have as strong a connotation of disgust as “puke” for example, or I at least don’t imagine the vomit as vividly with hurl.
